Every piece is checked against its care label first, so wool, silk and delicate fibres get the treatment they need. We clean in our own plant with large commercial machines, which give bulky bedding room to be cleaned right through, not just on the surface. Each item is checked again before it comes back to you, fresh and ready for the bed or the linen cupboard.
Most home machines are too small for a queen or king doona. The filling can’t move freely, so it comes out unevenly clean and can dry lumpy. Wool blankets and underlays can also shrink or felt in a warm wash, and that can’t be undone.
Change of season is the classic time. Clean the winter doona and wool blankets before they go away, so dust and body oils don’t sit in them for months. It’s also worth booking when pets have been sleeping on the bed, or before guests arrive.
